End the festival with two packed days of films!

The last weekend of the festival offers many highlights. Get inspired by our eight movie tips!

The last festival weekend is almost here!

But don't mourn, make the most of it with lots of great movies! We've listed our eight favorites.

Kick off the weekend with a unique short film screening at Moderna Museet! We are showing Short Film Package 4, Sthlm Shorts, which contains five fantastic, creative short films that illustrate the meeting between the audiovisual and contemporary art. Including »Oyu« by Atsushi Hirai who will also be present for a Face2Face conversation. Take the opportunity to attend a truly exclusive screening!

If you miss our former Asian Visions section and want to see a really good feature film on Saturday afternoon, buy tickets to »The Breaking Ice«. An unusual love and friendship drama, we meet Haofeng who travels from sunny Shanghai to China's coldest and snowiest northeast to attend a wedding. While waiting for the wedding, he meets Nana, a local guide, and her friend Xiao, whom he quickly gets to know. We follow the trio and the friendship they build during their adventures in beautiful, crisp landscapes. Thanks to elegant and intimate filming, we see the strong bonds of friendship give way to jealousy in a burning love triangle.

Afterwards, you can watch »Rotting In the Sun«. Director Sebastián Silva and American comedian and actor Jordan Firstman describe their work as »Uncut Gems« meets »Casablanca« meets »Annie Hall« meets »Mean Girls« meets »Parasite« meets »Snow White« meets PornHub meets Twitter meets having a good day meets having sex with your lover or having sex with someone else when you have a lover." A jam-packed film about decadence, drugs, and the specific stupidity only social media can model out of people, with Silva and Firstman playing autofictional versions of themselves.

Close the second last night of the festival with »The Rapture«, a transformative psychological drama with a touch of thriller about lies and consequences. Midwife Lydia is in the middle of ending a relationship when her best friend Salomé tells her she is pregnant. Lydia is put in charge of her friend's pregnancy and helps with the baby after birth. However, life takes a quick turn one day when Lydia is out alone with her friend's baby and runs into Milo, an old one-night stand. Without thinking, she starts lying about who the baby belongs to, leading her to embark on a journey that could cost her everything.

»Riddle of Fire« by Weston Razooli

Start the last day of the festival with the coming of age drama »Almamula«. 14-year-old Nino's family moves to the countryside after he is the victim of a homophobic hate crime. But life in the countryside is not free of homophobia and in the forests around the village wanders the monster Almamula, a demonic figure who destroys all those living in carnal sin. Symbolic and full of mystery, the film explores the consequences of conservatism and superstition in the Argentine countryside. Among lush greenery, Nino grapples with the oppression of the Catholic Church and his own desires in a peculiar mix of desire and horror.

If you feel like watching an emotional but very funny comedy, head to Sture 1 for the screening of »Sometimes I Think About Dying«. A stylishly told romantic comedy about social anxiety that with acidic humor and sharp observation skills underlines how difficult it is to be human. A perceptive movie where we follow Fran, played by "Star Wars" star Daisey Ridley in her best role yet. She is a rather gray and shy girl who loves cottage cheese and likes to daydream about dying because it gives her some excitement in her everyday life. One day, the energetic and charming Robert joins the company that Fran works at, and although it goes against all her principles, she becomes interested in him, and her feelings seem to be reciprocated. The only thing that can really stop Robert and Fran from becoming a couple is Fran herself.

If you want to end the festival on a high note, watch »Riddle of Fire« or »The Goldman Case«. »Riddle of Fire« is beautifully shot on grainy 16 millimeter film with twisted details and a big dose of 70s nostalgia. Hazel, Alice and Jodie, three kids who spend their days playing video games, find a sacred game console that they are prevented from playing with because their TV is password protected. In exchange for the password, they are tasked by their mother to fetch a blueberry pie. It's a seemingly simple task, but the journey is full of adventure and the children have to fight and outwit various supernatural creatures.

»The Goldman Case« brings us into the trial that divided an entire country and further widened the gap between the conservative right and left-wing intellectuals. The year is 1975 in France and left-wing activist Pierre Goldman is on trial for several armed robberies and two murders. He maintains his innocence and we witness what was then considered the trial of the century as Goldman slowly but surely becomes an icon for left-wing sympathizers.

Hawke's passion for the art of film has made him a highly respected name in the film industry.

Hawke's journey on the silver screen began as a teenager in the 1980s with his breakthrough role in the film "Dead Poets Society" (1989), where he starred alongside Robin Williams and captured the hearts of the audience. Since then, he has become known for his ability to portray a variety of characters. Some of his most memorable films include the generation-X drama "Reality Bites" (1994) and the intense police thriller "Training Day" (2001). Where Hawke received an Oscar nomination for his role.
